Dia 27: Por los bosques y ferrerias de la Artikutza profunda y desconocida

Se trata de uno de los territorios más lluviosos de la península. A pesar de los reveses recibidos a lo largo de la historia, los bosques Artikutza se muestran pletóricos a todos aquellos que los recorren

Llueve sobre el hayedo de Artikutza pero ello no es ninguna novedad. Así ha sido desde siempre, desde que el hombre primitivo habitaba estas tierras altas y las sembraba de dólmenes y crómlechs. Así será durante mucho tiempo pues este inmenso boscaje verde que navega entre montañas es un imán para las gotas de lluvia y las precipitaciones. Los frutos de esta virtud son visibles todo el año y aquel que visita esta finca, varada en tierras de Goizueta y adquirida por el Ayuntamiento de Donostia-San Sebastián a principios del siglo XX, sabe perfectamente que allí sólo hay una única reina: la naturaleza y sus frutos

Ya en la Edad Media, Artikutza fue un foco de actividad: sus bosques eran frecuentados por carboneros, ferrones y pastores. Unos utilizaban los árboles como combustible; otros, como resguardo para los rebaños y así fue durante varios siglos hasta que la arboleda dijo basta y comenzó la recuperación de un territorio que, de otra forma, habría perecido. Hoy día, la finca es un mundo aparte para cuyo descubrimiento se organizan visitas y se han habilitado itinerarios señalizados. En los meses de otoño, se organizan paseos guiados por expertos para conocer, a fondo, los secretos del lugar

El día 27 una vuelta con el amigo Andoni por la Artikutza profunda y desconocida. Caminamos por sus bosques, visitamos sus ferrerías, los enclaves de donde se extraía el mineral para trabajarlo en éstas, y disfrutamos de ese lugar todavía anclado en el pasado y donde parece que el tiempo se haya detenido. El día muy bueno, ideal para caminar en este verano que nos está regalando este invierno la climatología
